THE PURPOSE FOR THIS BLOG
Ahh the early 1980's... it was a time excess & extravagance. Most afforded brand-new-late-model cars plus a home of their own and enough money in the bank to spend like crazy. Pac-Man & Centipede kept the children busy in arcades. Mtv had teenagers & college students glued to their televisions (MTV was actually good at the time), and trickle-down “voodoo” economics had the rest debating the economy's future.
Well, suffice to say brand new cars
aren't as affordable as they use to be, people are abandoning their
homes because they can't afford to live in them anymore and
credit-card debts replaced the money we use to have in the bank. The
Pac-Man craze wore out, Mtv lost it's appeal and trickle-down
economics dissolved the middle class leaving the rest of us feeling
pissed on instead.
With the decline America's economy
gardening & the once-quaint art of canning experienced a still
growing revival that has helped catapult the homestead movement.
With Americans fully aware that they will never be able to attain
what their parents and grandparents had, minimalism was born. And of
course there are the preppers who are stockpiling arms & hoarding
enough food to live on for years if possible all in the name of
riding out either a nuclear holocaust, World War Three, social
collapse, economic collapse... a zombie apocalypse? I don't know.
But what scariest about the preppers is that they are not some
militia looking to take over or red neck bigots or any other social
outcasts. They're well educated professionals claiming just to be
preparing for the inevitable.
So what does all that have to do with
this blog?
I can't stand the thought of working
day in and out just to pay creditors. It's just another form of
slavery. Even though the economy limits our resources there's still
plenty we can do to benefit our own physical well being and our
personal finances as well. The objective here is to share free
useful information with anyone interested in wild crafting,
homesteading, health, D.I.Y., green living & even some arts &
crafts. Yes even the preppers are more than welcome to look about.
